n Fall 2024, I filmed behind-the-scenes content for the Gabriele Bonci Panettone Video project, documenting the artisanal production of his famous panettone at his bakery in Rome. Known internationally as the “Michelangelo of Pizza” and featured on Netflix’s Chef’s Table, Gabriele Bonci has become a global symbol of Italian craftsmanship and fermentation mastery. Capturing his process required an approach that went beyond simple documentation, focusing instead on the human element and the dedication involved.
This Gabriele Bonci Panettone Video production offered an intimate, cinematic look at Bonci’s creative process. From mixing the dough with carefully sourced ingredients to the multi-day natural fermentation and final bake, every scene revealed the dedication and precision behind his signature Christmas dessert. Specifically, we utilized natural light and intimate close-ups, combined with a deliberate editing rhythm, to emphasize the textures, sounds, and almost meditative focus of the bakers. Through expressive camera work and detailed sound design, the video brought the atmosphere of the kitchen to life—authentic, human, and deeply connected to tradition.
The videos were later published by Bonci’s communication team on social media to promote the Bernabei x Bonci collaboration, celebrating the artistry and patience behind each handmade panettone. The project successfully combined storytelling and brand content, giving viewers a real connection to the craftsmanship behind the product and boosting anticipation for the limited-edition release. This demonstrates the power of authentic visual narratives in driving consumer engagement for high-end food products.
Working with Gabriele Bonci offered a unique chance to portray one of Italy’s most innovative chefs at work, merging old-world baking techniques with a contemporary visual language. It also reflects my approach to culinary video production: emphasizing emotion, rhythm, and the tactile details that make a process visually compelling. This focus allows brands to communicate not just what they make, but the passion and expertise behind it.
